The Story Behind Our Why

But the real reason behind what we do now comes from our first Bernese, Koda. (Pictured on the right)

At the time, we didn’t know what we didn’t know. We weren’t familiar with genetic testing or the health risks within the breed. Koda was everything you could hope for in a dog, and losing him at just six years old to Degenerative Myelopathy changed everything for us.

It’s a condition that, in many cases, can be avoided through responsible, informed breeding.

That loss is what shaped our why and ultimately our breeding philosophy.

We don’t breed just because we love the breed. We breed because we believe these dogs deserve longer, healthier lives, and families deserve the chance to have more time with them.
